SECOND GRADE
2-LS4 Biological Evolution: Unity and Diversity – B-B-B- Bats
2-LS4-1. Make observations of plants and animals to compare the diversity of life in different habitats. (B-B-B-Bats – There are fruit bats in tropical areas with larger eyes and snouts. The insectivore bats are smaller, have smaller eyes, but larger ears for use in echolocation.)
2-ESS1 Earth’s Place in the Universe – Changes
2-ESS1-1. Use information from several sources to provide evidence that Earth events can occur quickly or slowly. (Changes – This title examines Earth events such as volcanoes, forest fires, hurricanes, earthquakes, and beach erosion caused by wind and water.)
2-ESS2 Earth’s Systems – Changes
2-ESS2-1. Compare multiple solutions designed to slow or prevent wind or water from changing the shape of the land. (Changes – The use of dikes, levees, grasses and trees could be explored for water and wind erosion along coastal areas.)
